Joining IHMC in March 2007, Dr. Dana serves as Senior Advisor for Strategic Initiatives where she is engaged in furthering the expansion, recognition, and multi-faceted relationships of the Institute. Dana manages the Institute’s strategic relationships with affiliated organizations, state and federal government and selected private sector partners. Dana’s experience in creating successful partnerships among the public sector, industry and the academic community benefits IHMC as it expands its research partnerships and commercializes more of its research products. Dr. Dana has been instrumental in solidifying the IHMC expansion into Ocala, including locating suitable facilities, seeking resources for expansion and building community partnerships.
From 1995-1999, Dana served as Assistant (& Deputy)
Secretary at the California Trade and Commerce Agency
where she oversaw the Division of Economic Development
(to include major corp. projects, military base
retention & reuse, commercial space, & strategic
technology), and provided Agency leadership on the
California Electronic Commerce Advisory Council and
the NASA/Film Commission digital imaging system.
Dana holds a Ph.D. in International Development and
Economics from USC and Masters in Administration,
Planning, and Social Policy from Harvard. She sits on
the corporate boards of CommerceBank, N.A. and its
Holding Company; LaBock Technologies Inc. business
advisory group; Scripps Florida Funding Corporation;
and Florida Seaport Security Standards Advisory
Council. She maintains a list of honors to include:
Henry Luce Scholar, Fulbright Scholar, Secretary of
Defense Joint Civilian Orientation Conferee; Air Force
Secretary’s Air War College (2007); 1st Recipient of
the Florida Defense Alliance Distinguished Service
Award (2006), Outstanding Young Woman of America,
California Governor’s Executive Fellow, Harvard
Scholar, and USC Dean’s Merit Scholar, to name a few.
